Political Conference Kittsee 2003 – “Building a European Region”
The Kittsee Declaration of September 2003 marked the launch of the CENTROPE initiative. This meeting of political decision-makers of (then) 14 provinces, regions, counties and cities was dedicated to the fundamental intention of building the Central European Region. Above all, it was agreed to
- establish CENTROPE as a common region of growth and prosperity and support all measures towards the attainment of this goal,
- create an attractive, internationally respected quality location covering all areas of life and improve the frame conditions for cross-border cooperation, and
- intensify cooperation by networking existing initiatives, communicate the future potential of the region to the public at large and strengthen social and entrepreneurial commitment to the Central European Region.
