Tourism cooperation in CENTROPE: joint destination marketing

With the launch of the pilot activity “Culture and Tourism Marketing Tool – Exploring CENTROPE together” the tourism agenda of CENTROPE is getting a new boost. If you have never visited the Thaya Valley National Park or the spa region in Hungary, the new tool, which will be implemented until September 2012, will provide you with all the necessary information for cross-border trips directly to your mobile, tablet or PC.

The idea of the tool builds on many strong touristic potentials of the CENTROPE region on the one hand and a continuously growing interest in short-trip intra-regional tourism on the other. The interesting mixture of urban and rural environments with important cities such as Vienna or Bratislava and beautiful natural sceneries, coupled with a wide range of diverse cultural and leisure activities: the CENTROPE region has enough potential for rich touristic experiences. To render this “CENTROPE experience” more accessible, a wide range of always up-to-date information on cultural events, interesting places, cycling trips etc. from the whole of CENTROPE will be available from the new tool – both for Centropeans and for tourists from outside the region.

The easily accessible internet instrument will be user-friendly, free-of-charge and provided in five language versions (the four CENTROPE languages and English), so that it can be simply added to the existing touristic websites and portals from all CENTROPE partner regions. In this way, it will help to support intra-regional tourism, foster a common identity within the four-country region and instigate job creation and economic growth. The implementation of the tool presupposes a constant involvement of and dialogue with tourist partners, stakeholders and key players from within the region, in order to adapt the tool to their needs in the most efficient way possible. The launch of the product has been planned for September 2012 to correspond to the European Mobility Week.
