Editorial – Giving CENTROPE visibility

The political impulse generated by the CENTROPE Summit held last May in Győr has accelerated the dynamism of the CENTROPE project. As a consequence, ensuring visibility for the region has become even more important, as this helps to attract investment and launch co-operation activities. The political agreement to further expand the marketing activities already taking place has led to concrete strategies and action plans for the upcoming year.

Prominent among them are activities in the area of tourism, such as the “Culture and Tourism Marketing Tool”, which develops a communication instrument to be placed at the disposal of both tourists and tourism boards and agencies of the region. Moreover, new tourism projects and co-operation alliances are being launched to further boost the related potential of CENTROPE. One such alliance is a co-operation between the Vienna Museum of Applied Arts (MAK) and the Moravian Gallery in Brno, which focuses on modernism as a characteristic feature of the region’s architecture and design.

Releasing the region’s potential and raising its attractiveness also calls for access to information on experiences gathered by similar projects and ventures. According to this logic, CENTROPE has engaged in an exchange with fellow cross-border initiatives and was thus able to identify useful schemes for identity-building and marketing, all contributing to the general strategy of CENTROPE.
