Labour market & qualification in the Hungarian partner regions
The two counties participating in CENTROPE are home to two universities with many departments. Due to the positive economic development, the demand for skilled labour is high and the continually widening range of educational possibilities helps to satisfy this demand. The labour force offers major advantages for international investors, as many well-trained specialists can be found in the region.
The unemployment rate of the area is around 7 to 8%, which remains below national and European quotas. Due to the region’s strong automotive industry, employment is highest among engineers, followed by service sector workers as a result of tourism. While the economic crisis originally led to staff cuts in companies, a reverse trend has by now set in, and growing foreign investment volumes create new employment opportunities.
