The CENTROPE Agency handles the multilateral cooperation management of the Central European Region and is composed of regional offices in all four participating countries as well as of one coordination office. The four decentralised CENTROPE Offices continuously generate impulses for intensified cooperation, develop concepts and promote the idea behind CENTROPE in the partner regions. The main operative responsibility for the development focuses “Knowledge Region”, “Human Capital”, “Spatial Integration” and “Culture & Tourism” is likewise distributed among the four partner countries, while the CENTROPE Coordination Office handles the transnational fine-tuning of the project as a whole. In its entirety, the CENTROPE Agency was conceived as a cross-border consortium active on behalf of the regional and local authorities backing the CENTROPE CAPACITY project.
The CENTROPE Coordination Office located at Europaforum Wien is responsible for superordinate thematic coordination and strategic development, communication management and all ongoing technical-operative fine-tuning of the CENTROPE CAPACITY project. From 2003 to 2007, Europaforum Wien acted as the project secretariat of the Central European Region in the context of the INTERREG IIIA projects “BAER Building a European Region CENTROPE” I and II.
In the Czech Republic, HOPE-E.S. serves as the decentralised CENTROPE Office. This consulting agency disposes of long-term experience in the planning, management, implementation and evaluation of projects organised under the EU Structural Funds. The Czech CENTROPE Office is in charge of the development focus “Human Capital”.
The Slovak CENTROPE House – “Slovenský dom Centrope” – provides decentralised CENTROPE cooperation management in Slovakia. This is an institution set up on an initiative of both the City and Region of Bratislava and the City of Trnava with the aim of promoting the CENTROPE agenda in Slovakia. The Slovak CENTROPE Office will assume the leading role with respect to the development focus “Culture & Tourism”.
In Hungary, CEURINA, the Central European Urban Research and Innovation Nonprofit Association, will fulfil the functions of decentralised CENTROPE cooperation management. The Hungarian CENTROPE Office is responsible for managing the development focus “Spatial lntegration”.
In Austria, the Vienna Business Agency (VBA) as well as Regional Management Lower Austria and Regional Management Burgenland (RMB) jointly provide decentralised CENTROPE cooperation management. In the context of INTERREG IIIA, the Vienna Business Agency and RMB already participated in the projects “BAER Building a European Region CENTROPE” from 2003 to 2007 and moreover jointly implemented the project “CENTROPE FDI”, which focused on CENTROPE as an international business location. Within CENTROPE CAPACITY, the Austrian CENTROPE Office is charged with the development focus “Knowledge Region”.
